William Byron and car owner Dale Earnhardt Jr brief the media center after winning the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series title
William Byron fought a tough battle with teammate Elliott Sadler en route to the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship. He finished 3rd in the race, enough to win the title.
“I don’t think I breathed the last 20 laps,” William Byron stated from Homestead-Miami Speedway after winning the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship. “That was incredible.”
“I’m Happy for William,” Dale Earnhardt Jr told reporters in the media center of Homestead-Miami Speedway. “This kid’s the total package. Obviously, we see he’s got talent.”
“But, what is going to be exciting for me, Kelley, LW, Dave and everybody that already knows him so well… Is to watch everybody else get to know what kinda person he is.”
William Byron will move on to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in 2018. He will drive for Hendrick Motorsports full-time, piloting the famed #24 car.
Dale Earnhardt JR continued, “As he goes on to the cup series and gets introduced to the fans and the industry more, it’s going to hear everybody else see, what we already see.”

“It’s been an awesome few years,” William Byron stated from the Homestead Miami-Speedway media center. “To come back into this company and really grow with it. And to see the commitment they had to me, to get me to this point.”
