Clint Bowyer caved in his roof before entering the ‘Room of Doom’ also known as the NASCAR inspection tent
At Martinsville Speedway, Clint Bowyer snapped a 190-race winless streak. Today at Texas Motor Speedway, Clint Bowyer joked while referring to NASCAR’s new inspection tent as the ‘Room of Doom’.
Yet, after the win at Martinsville Speedway, Clint Bowyer jumped on the roof of his #14. That celebration caved in the roof in victory lane. This was before post-race inspection.
Were you worried when you jumped on the roof?
“No. You’re completely out of your mind.”
“I saw Kyle Larson do it and he’s about the size of a horse jockey. I’m thinkin’, ‘My old butt can get up there!’ ”
“My roof caves in,” Clint Bowyer says with a laugh. “I guess I’m no Kyle Larson. I need to cut my body in half to slim down a little bit more if I’m gunna be doing that.”
“Hell, no. That place is so special. When you get out of the car, those fans are right there. You don’t even have to yell at them, you’re so close.”
“It was a long time since I’ve won. It just felt fun and I embraced it. I had fun with it. I wasn’t worried about that.”
Weeks before, his teammate Kevin Harvick received an L1 penalty, a car chief suspension and a $50,000 fine for roof/window flexing.
Today at Texas Motor Speedway, Clint Bowyer has returned to the top of the board. With first practice completed, Clint Bowyer sits 1st. Two of his Stewart-Haas teammates ran 2nd and 3rd.
