NASCAR Xfinity Practice Times: Watkins Glen – August 3, 2018

The NASCAR Xfinity Series went rain racing today in two practice sessions
It was great. The problem was, nobody showed up. For a bulk of the day, the 2.454-mile road course of Watkins Glen International sat near dormant as the green flag remained on two practice sessions.
It wasn’t that nobody wanted to run in the rain. Though, there’s certainly a lot of that in a garage full of oval racing drivers.
It had more to do with the fact there’s only a 20% of rain for tomorrow’s NASCAR Xinity Series event. As a result, a bulk of the car remained in the garage area. It’s been raining all day in Watkins Glen, New York. NASCAR requires all rookie drivers to at least attempt a lap, rain or shine. That’s about what happened.
Only 6 cars turned a lap in the first practice session of the day. In practice two, 9 drivers turned a lap. Kaz Grala made the most consecutive laps at 8. The next driver with the most laps in the session was Joey Gase who turned just 3 laps.
That means for the bulk of the race teams they will get to turn their first laps in qualifying.
