Jason Jameson rolled the race car in the first night of the Lucas Oil show at Florence Speedway
On Wednesday night, Florence Speedway hosted a makeup event from earlier in the season for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The event kicked off the North South 100 weekend.

Jason was 10th quickest in group B qualifying at the half-mile Union, Kentucky dirt track. In his heat race, the pack was heavy. The outside groove specifically was a bit treacherous.
Jameson kicked it to the high side to make a run at the runner-up spot. He bounced through a rut. The car kicked sideways and launched upwards. He came down on another side, sideways and he barrel rolled from there.
Tell me about what happened.
“I just had that restart there and I was trying to go for 2nd,” Jason Jameson told RacingNews.co from the pit area of Florence Speedway.
“I caught that rut getting into turn one and she just turned over.”
After the incident, there was a vocal fan sitting in turn 2. He screamed, “Fix the *ucking track.”
Do you fault the track for that?
“Eh, it had some real rough spots in turns one and two. But, it was kinda a racing deal. I could have settled for 3rd.”
“I mean the tracks rougher than some people like. A lot of people like it rough. It’s just one of them deals.”
“It’s been raining here off and on for the last couple days.”
So, I’d say a lot of the track conditions are probably out of their control.
“Oh no. There ain’t nothing wrong with the track. You’re going to have that. Mother nature, it’s been raining. It’s also been overcast all day.”
“If it rained at all, it was going to make it like that. But, it will make it for a good race in the feature.”
When the sky is overcast then the dirt doesn’t have much opportunity to dry out during the day. Rain in combination with overcast conditions result in a rough race track.
What are your plans for the rest of the weekend?
“We’re going to put the other car together and get it ready.”
Jameson was not injured in the accident. He climbed from the car under his own power.
Jameson and crew were taking parts and pieces off the rolled machine after the first night of racing at Florence Speedway. The backup was already rolled out. He’ll be ready to go again tonight.
On June 30th, Jason Jameson picked up a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory. That $12,000 win came at Portsmouth Raceway Park.
