Tyler Erb required to take anger management class

The World of Outlaws appeals panel has heard the appeal of the Tyler Erb penalty

Two weeks ago, Tyler Erb and Bobby Pierce were involved in an on-track incident at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Following contact, Erb attempted to run over the rear tire of Pierce under caution. As Pierce gased it to get away, Erb stopped on track and went backwards on the racing surface to find him.

Pierce came to a stop. Erb lined up nose to nose with Pierce and proceeded to do a burnout while pressed up against his car.

Bob Pierce, father of Bobby Pierce ran out onto the race track. He screamed and reached inside the cockpit of Erb’s car. At the same time, a series official attempted to reach into the car and hit the kill switch on the ignition.

As Erb peeled away, he clipped the official, taking him to the ground.

Erb was disqualified from the event and reportedly escorted off the grounds. Bobby Pierce was also disqualified for a crew member entering the racing surface.

Tyler Erb Penalty

Erb and Bob Pierce were issued the following penalties:

Tyler Erb was suspended indefinitely by World Racing Group. He has also been fined $5,000 which will need to be paid before reinstatement is considered, but must be paid within 12 months.

Additionally, Bob Pierce was been fined $1,000. He is also suspended from all World Racing Group sanctioned tracks for 1 month.

The Best Performance Motorsports driver elected to appeal the penalty handed to him. The appeal has been heard and the results were released on Wednesday.

Hearing of Erb Penalty

World Racing Group Appeal Commission has determined the following:

– To uphold the original penalty that was issued to you regarding your violation outlined in section 11.1 – C/11.1 – F/11.1 – J in the rule book.

– A pre-approved anger management class must be taken prior to being eligible to apply for reinstatement.
