$50,000 dirt late model finale of the North South 100 at Florence Speedway

Tonight, it’s the finale night of the famed North South 100. The half-mile of Florence Speedway is set to host the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with a 100-lap finale.

Feature – Report

Tim McCreadie and Michael Chilton line up on the front row. 100 laps of dirt late model racing are up next…

Green flag, McCreadie leads into turn one. Overton moves to 2nd on the inside.

Lap 2, Overton pulls even with McCreadie into turn one. He noses ahead but can’t beat the momentum McCreadie has through the middle off turn two.

Lap 10, most of the field has moved to the bottom lane. McCreadie has caught the tail of the field.

Lap 22

Lap 22, Overton is all over the bumper of McCreadie in the battle for the lead. Overton is on the brakes early in turn one. He diamonds the exit and crosses under McCreadie off turn two. Overton completes the pass for the lead in turn three.

Lap 30, McCreadie has closed back to within a car length of Overton.

Lap 33, Overton rolls over the inside berm in turn one. He works under two lap cars, taking them both with the three wide move.

Lap 35, Overton leads McCreadie by 5 car lengths.

Lap 40, the track is changing fast. Half of the field runs on the cushion while the other half runs right against the bottom.

Lap 43, the caution is out as the ambulance needs to cross the track.

Restart

Green, Overton leads McCreadie as Rice takes 3rd away. They run three wide behind them.

Lap 50, Overton leads McCreadie by 8 car lengths.

Lap 52, Josh Rice is the car on the move. He resting the right rear on the wall, throwing sparks, bouncing through ruts and coming to the front.

Rice closes to the bumper of McCreadie. McCreadie moves to the top and takes the lane away.

Lap 53, Johnny Scott slows with a flat tire, caution.

Green, Overton leads McCreadie. Davenport takes 3rd from Rice.

Lap 56

Lap 56, Rice slides Davenport in turn three. Sparks fly off the wall and he retakes the spot.

Lap 60, Rice is on the bumper of McCreadie. He knocks the cushion in turn one, pulls even and clears him to take 2nd off turn two.

Overton leads Rice by 10 car lengths. The leader is closing on the tail of the field.

Lap 70, Overton is glued to the bottom as Rice knocks the cushion and charges behind him.

Lap 74, Overton rolls to the middle and drives right between two lap cars, three wide. Rice closes slightly.

20 to go, the caution is out for debris.

Green, Overton leads Rice. McCreadie and Davenport run side by side for 3rd.

10 to go, Overton leads Rice by 10 car lengths. Davenport is closing on Rice for 2nd.
