NASCAR has lifted the suspension of driver Noah Gragson

On August 5, 2023, Noah Gragson was suspended by NASCAR as well as his team, Legacy Motor Club. The penalty was handed as Gragson liked an Instagram meme featuring George Floyd.

Legacy Motor Club noted the reason for their suspension stating, “actions that do not represent the values of our team.”

In the days that followed, Gragson asked to be released from Legacy Motor Club. The team released him from his contract. Gragson has not signed with a new team.

“I have asked Legacy Motor Club to release me from my contract so that I can take time to work through the NASCAR reinstatement process,” Gragson said back in August. “I love racing, and I am looking forward to a second chance to compete for wins at the highest level of NASCAR – and most importantly, make my family, my team and the fans proud of me once again.”

The 25 year-old driver was in his rookie season of full-time NASCAR Cup Series competion.

Noah Gragson cleared to return

On Tuesday, NASCAR announced that the suspension has been lifted.

“Noah Gragson has completed diversity and inclusion training with our partners at RISE,” NASCAR said in a statement.

Gragson has not announced any deals to get behind the wheel in 2024.

Legacy Motor Club is making a switch to Toyota in 2024. They have already signed John Hunter Nemechek as their new driver.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to NASCAR for reinstating me,” Gragson opened.

“Over the past several weeks, I have dedicated myself to personal growth and reflection and I believe I have become a better person because of it.”

“I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family and the NASCAR industry. I am now more focused and committed than ever to representing my future team in the best way possible.”

He added, “I’m eager to get back behind the wheel and compete at the highest level, giving it my all on and off the track. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey and I can’t wait to make the most of this second chance.”
