The 45-year-old has been running a mix of divisions in 2023. He recently ran the Open Wheel Modified race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Following the 2021 season, Newman was unable to find a NASCAR Cup Series ride for the 2022 season. He’s run a handful of starts for Rick Ware Racing this season with a best finish of 27th at Darlington Raceway.

Newman last ran an Xfinity Series race in 2012. In 64 Xfinity starts, he’s collected 7 race wins.

The car will have sponsorship from GenerX Generators.

Ryan Newman comments

“Homestead is one of my favorite tracks on the schedule. From being able to rip the fence to having to manage tire wear, the track suits my driving style perfectly,” driver Ryan Newman said.

Newman added, “My goal is to give Carl, MBM Motorsports and their partners a fantastic run and hopefully end the evening in victory lane!”

Carl Long comments

“I have known Ryan since his rookie season in the Cup Series and when the opportunity presented itself to have him join us in Miami, it was a no brainer to elevate our organization,” team owner Carl Long said.

Long concluded, “Having a partner like GenerX Generators come back is not only massive but also give us the opportunity to have Ryan help represent their brand.”

The Contender Boats 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, October 21.
