Joey Logano dumped Ty Gibbs at Martinsville Speedway; On the final lap, Gibbs got some retribution
On Sunday, NASCAR raced on the half-mile of Martinsville Speedway. Joey Logano and Ty Gibbs were not a part of the playoff battle but engaged in a fight of their own.

Ty Gibbs started the race from the front row. However, he faded early, finishing 7th in the opening stage.
On lap 274 of 500, Ty Gibbs returned to the front. He pulled to the inside and threw a block on Joey Logano. Logano lined up the rear bumper and shoved him into the corner.
Gibbs was sent spinning, bring out the caution. Daniel Suarez and Brad Keselowski slammed into the the scene, picking up heavy damage as well.
At the time, this was a battle for 3rd place.
No. 54 team radio: “The No. 22 dumped us.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr stated, “Uh Joey, Logano just got into the back of the No. 54 and never let up.”
Jeff Burton added, “The No. 54 came down the race track to protect the bottom. But, that was not an aggressive block, at all. That is something we see every time we come to Martinsville. Joey Logano just wasn’t having it. If I’m Ty Gibbs, I am not happy with that.”
After this incident, Gibbs was also spun by Carson Hocevar who hooked him. Hocevar will race in the NASCAR Cup Series next season.

Ty Gibbs retaliated on Joey Logano
There was retaliation from Ty Gibbs. However, it was given no attention during the national broadcast.
On the final lap, Joey Logano was running 4th. Ironically, he was on the bumper of the lap car driven by none other than Ty Gibbs.
Gibbs was rolling around very slow. He even pulled to the inside down the backstretch, trying to give Logano the opportunity to pass him on the outside into turn three.
It was bait and Logano didn’t take it. Instead, Logano let off the throttle, letting Chase Briscoe drive by them both on the outside and taking the 4th spot away from Logano on the final lap.
In the middle of turn three, Gibbs brake checked Logano. Another car went by them both on the outside, but it wasn’t a battle for position.
After the checkered flag, Logano turned inside of Gibbs into turn one on the cool down lap. Gibbs turned into his door and they beat on the fenders.

Former NASCAR track president’s scathing review of Denny Hamlin
Denny Hamlin comments
Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano are known rivals and Hamlin is a teammate to Ty Gibbs. Years ago, contact at Martinsville Speedway ended in a fight between Hamlin and Logano after the race.
Hamlin saw what Logano was up to in his mirror.
“I don’t love the way the 22 was racing guys that had earned their position to race for a championship. He’s kind of knocking guys out of the way.”
Hamlin added, “I think if the roles were reversed, he’d probably have a little problem with that.”
