Wallace is good friends with Ryan Blaney. Blaney claimed the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series title in Sunday’s race.

The 30-year-old Wallace has been public with depression. He first went public on it back in 2019.

Ahead of Sunday’s finale, Wallace noted that he had a great year. He also noted that he had grown significantly this season.

On paper, Wallace had the best season of his career. He picked up 5 top-5s, 10 top-10s and had an average finish of 15th.

Yet, he still feels off…

Bubba Wallace comments hours after the season finale…

“Currently 3:42am.. sitting here on the couch questioning everything and I have no idea why,” Bubba Wallace opened via an Instagram story.

“Climbed from the car today with little to no emotion. Frustrated with how our race ended and ending the #6 team’s top-10 run.”

“You would think your bud winning the championship would bring that joy and excitement back. Sadly it did not.”

“You would think having a career year and capping it off with a p10 in points would bring the happiness back. Sadly it did not.”

“I’ve always said music is my go to for the dark moments.. 5 hour plane ride back and I rode in complete silence for 3.5 of those.”

“It’s the helpless feeling that really kicks ya.. My wife can see that I’m off but I don’t have the what or the why that I’m feeling this way to allow her to help me.”

“To my peeps out there staring at a blank wall, I’m with you. Tomorrow is another day. Another opportunity. Keep after it.

Wallace concluded, “We gon be alright.”
