Spire Motorsports names new president of NASCAR team

Doug Duchardt formerly worked at Chip Ganassi Racing and Hendrick Motorsports

Doug Duchardt is now the president of Spire Motorsports. The team operates multiple teams in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Truck Series.

Duchardt recently worked at Chip Ganassi Racing for the last six years. He joined the team as COO but more recently operated as an executive consultant.

He has a vast history with CGR. He managed many aspects of CGR operations including Indycar, SportsCar and NASCAR teams.

Before his work with CGR, he worked 12 years for Hendrick Motorsports. He worked as the Vice President of Development and was later promoted to Executive Vice President.

Duchardt new role with Spire will span the entire organization. This latest hire is only the latest in a string of investments from the team.

Spire Motorsports recently purchased a NASCAR Cup Series charter for an estimated $40 million. It set a new record for the sale of a charter.

And only weeks after that purchase, they then bought Kyle Busch Motorsports. The team will now have their own development ladder with the addition of the NASCAR Truck Series operation.
