Today, it’s the first day of racing for the 2024 Chili Bowl Nationals. The race features purpose built dirt midgets on a 1/4-mile dirt track inside the Tulsa Expo Raceway in Oklahoma.
Three drivers who raced in the NASCAR Cup Series last year are entered into the event. Chase Briscoe, JJ Yeley and Josh Bilicki will all run in the event.
Additionally, the 2023 ARCA Menards Series champion driver Jesse Love is entered.
Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell absent from Chili Bowl entry list
NASCAR Cup Series drivers Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell are former winners of the Chili Bowl Nationals. Each of them missed the event for the first time in years last year.
They are also absent from the 2024 entry list.
In the past, Larson has called the Chili Bowl Nationals, “The biggest win of his career.”
Larson and Bell have each stated they are skipping the event due a lack of purse money involved in the race. The week-long show features over 370 entries into the event, making it one of the toughest feature events to qualify for.
Yet, despite the massive entry list, the event only paid $10,000 to win for nearly two decades. For 2023, the championship payout was increased to $20,000. Drivers are also paid per lap led, bringing the winner’s check to a possible $28,250 payout.
For 2024, the preliminary night features will pay $3,000 to win. For Saturday’s finale, racers will earn the following if they fail to advance into another alphabet soup event:
B-Mains
$800
C-Mains
$600
D-Mains
$400
E-Mains
$200
F-Mains

G-Mains
