Mannequin struck by car during Indycar race at Barber (Video)

The art was hanging from an overpass before falling onto the track

Barber Motorsports Park is a race track in Birmingham, Alabama. The grounds double as a sculpture park.

Around the facility, fans will spot a wide range of unconventional art. A spider, lions, tigers, bears and even a bathing lady in a pond.

One of the items is a mannequin. It hung from an overpass that goes over the racing surface.

The mannequin is named Georgina.

On Sunday, the Indycar Series took the green flag on the road course. And on lap 52, the mannequin fell from its tethers.

It fell straight downward. One arm hung onto the track in the braking zone and it didn’t take long to be struck by a car.

“Not a real person, we should point out, right away,” they stated from the NBC broadcast booth.

“This is part of the eccentric art that populates Barber Motorsports Park.

“You better hope the Indycar drivers know that that’s a manikin.”

No caution was thrown for the mannequin. However, a few laps later, a car went off track, bringing out a yellow. The art was removed.

After the race, the race winner posed with Georgina. He held her arm, she only had one left.
