This race sets the inside lane for the Daytona 500
The front row for the Daytona 500 is set. Now, the Duels at Daytona will complete the rest of the lineup for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race.

Duels at Daytona (Race 1)
Race Report
Green flag, Larson and Logano run even into turn one and off turn two. Larson noses ahead on the outside lane in turn three and Larson leads them back to the line and he drops to the inside lane.
Lap 5, Suarez has built momentum on the outside lane with a push from Erik Jones. Suarez to the lead, he moves to the bottom and Erik Jones is shoved right by him on the outside, Jones leads.
Stenhouse Jr to the lead. He drops down to lead the inside lane.
Lap 13, Jimmie Johnson shoves Corey LaJoie to the lead on the outside lane.
Lap 14, Erik Jones leans on the bumper of Stenhouse. Stenhouse returns to the lead.
Lap 20, Stenhouse Jr throws a block on Corey LaJoie. LaJoie gets shuffled into the middle and LaJoie drops outside the top 10.
Lap 25, Larson shoves Truex Jr to the lead via the outside lane.
Lap 39, Truex moves to the bottom, Larson takes over the lead. Teams are getting in position for pit stops.
20 to go
20 to go, most of the Toyotas head for the pit lane. Truex Jr gets into the back of Tyler Reddick. Reddick nearly spins as he bounces off the door of Ty Gibbs. He keeps it rolling.
16 to go, Larson leads the Chevrolets to the pit lane. Truex Jr joined them but he’s stalled leaving the pit lane.
15 to go, the Ford group heads for the pit lane.
Pit Penalty: Ross Chastain will serve a pass-through penalty for speeding.
14 to go, Larson cycles to the race lead. Daniel Suarez and Chase Elliott are in tow. The field is spread out following pit stops.
10 to go, the groups are merging and it’s creating chaos. The field accordions and Ricky Stenhouse Jr tags Daniel Hemric in the bumper. Hemric gets turned sideways and into the turn three wall. Stenhouse Jr, Austin Dillon and Jimmie Johnson all spin but avoid the wall. The caution is out.
Green, Larson and Suarez run door to door into turn one.
4 to go, JJ Yeley throws a late block on Jimmie Johnson that’s a battle for the open cars and only one of them will make the Daytona 500. Yeley nearly spins himself off the nose of Johnson in the tri-oval. Johnson takes the position away.
3 to go, Larson and Suarez remain side by side at the front.
Yaley works by Johnson.
1 to go, Larson noses ahead with a push from Chase Elliott. The bottom lane has lost momentum. Reddick dives inside of Larson into turn three.
Bowman shoves Larson, Larson gets loose and loses several spots.
Tyler Reddick wins Duel 1 at Daytona!
Jimmie Johnson finished ahead of Yeley and Johnson will make the show.
