Corey LaJoie seized up after NASCAR race at COTA

NASCAR driver Corey LaJoie laid down next to his car after the race at Circuit of the Americas

On Sunday, NASCAR went road course racing. Circuit of the Americas hosted the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix.

Corey LaJoie had a fast car all weekend. He started the race from the 5th position but things went sour in a hurry.

On the opening lap, LaJoie ran wide. As he came back across the track, he was three wide. LaJoie, Bubba Wallace and Martin Truex Jr made contact.

Both Wallace and Truex were forced to the pit lane. LaJoie elected to run out the remainder of stage one with moderate damage.

At the end of the race, LaJoie climbed from his car in pain. He elected to lay on the ground next to his car.

A medical cart pulled up to the driver of the No. 7. He elected to visit the infield care center.

LaJoie has since been treated and released.

Corey LaJoie comments

“Every muscle in my body just cramped up,” Corey LaJoie told Bob Pockrass after the race.

“I was fine in the car. I had a little bit of foot cramp. But, as soon as I tucked my chin to get up out of the car, every muscle from the top of my abs to the bottom of my feet just seized right up.”

“I tried to walk it off. But, my feet wouldn’t work. So, I just had to lay down.”

“I got two bags,” LaJoie stated of his treatment.

“It’s a combination of frustration today. We threw away that track position early. I was just uber frustrated the rest of the day.”

“I’m pretty aware of my body generally. I don’t feel like I was behind on my salt or anything. I look at my suit, my suit has a little bit more salt lines in it than usual.”

“I got the salt stick tablets, that I probably should have used. I didn’t figure the weather was going to be too bad.”

“And, I seized right up after the race.”
