Speedway Motorsports LLC owns a bulk of NASCAR tracks on the schedule. Those include; Atlanta Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Dover Motor Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, North Wilkesboro Speedway, Sonoma Raceway and Texas Motor Speedway.

Many of the tracks above have been repaved in recent years. A few of those repaves haven’t gone well in the eyes of the fans and drivers.

Sonoma Raceway is the most recent track to be repaved. Already, the new surface is seeing issues. A social media post showed the asphalt getting torn up in the braking zones for turn 11.

Denny Hamlin vs Marcus Smith

Denny Hamlin reacted: “When paving on a budget goes wrong. NWB will be next.”

Marcus Smith responded: “This s a great post from somebody who doesn’t know all the information. Ignorance on display for the world to see. (I will delete this tweet when Denny Hamlin send me a text or gives me a call directly to ask why this is happening.)”

Hamlin: “You don’t need to delete. We’ve seen your reconfigure record.”

Smith: Yes we take risks, sometimes they world sometimes they don’t. We’ve seen your attempt of the championships as well. When you have a chance, maybe you could give me some golf tips.”

Hamlin: “Here’s your tip. Let someone else run your business before you blow everything your dad gave you.”

Smith: “So proud of my dad! Hall of Famer! If he had a Twitter/X account, I don’t think his comment would be family friendly. So listen here, almost NASCAR Champion, you keep working at it and one day you’re gonna get a big trophy! Thanks for the tip!”

Hamlin” With all due respect. This same group has reconfigured Texas, Kentucky, Bristol with 0 driver input. One of those lost a race, other one we don’t race anymore and the last one we put dirt over it. But hey, what do the drivers know?”

Smith: “Following up on my previous posts, I take a lot of pride in the dedication and hard work our teammates put forth to make @NASCAR the very best it can be and I shouldn’t let social media conversations get personal, so I deleted those posts. @dennyhamlin is a passionate driver and team owner and I’m truly looking forward to seeing him drive for a championship this year. Our team is working hard to fix some pavement issues @racesonoma and we will get it right. Let’s keep the positive momentum going in 2024!”

Hamlin: “Ill cosign this. I’ll definitely take responsibility for my part in it. It got more personal than it should have for sure.”
