“It’s unbelievable to me that we went from 4Ever to 4Ward to for sale in six months.”
On Tuesday, Stewart-Haas Racing released a shocking announcement. The four-car NASCAR Cup Series operation will be closing following the 2024 season.
Stewart-Haas Racing to close after the 2024 NASCAR season
The team first opened in 2002. They collected two NASCAR Cup Series championships along the way, the first with driver/owner Tony Stewart in 2011.

Their last championship came in 2014 in Kevin Harvick’s first year with the team after leaving RCR. Harvick remained with the team until 2023 when he retired from full-time competition.
In Harvick’s final season, he ran with a 4ever campaign, related to his No. 4 car. And now, just a few months later the team is folding.

Harvick has 60 career wins at the NASCAR Cup Series level. 37 of those came during his 10-year stint with SHR.
Ahead of the 2024 season, SHR lost more than just their winningest driver. They also lost major sponsors like Anheuser-Busch and Hunt Brothers Pizza.

Kevin Harvick reacts to Stewart-Haas announcing they’ll close after 2024
“It’s unbelievable to me that we went from 4Ever to 4Ward to for sale in six months,” Kevin Harvick stated via his Happy Hour show.
“I don’t even know how you could possibly imagine sitting here today and thinking six months later that Stewart-Haas Racing is going to announce that they’re basically folding.”
“When I went there in 2014, it was a brand-new team. We had a lot of enthusiasm from the ownership group to build this team up into what turned into being a championship-winning team; Wwon a lot of races.”
“But I had a great group of people, and I think the people around that No. 4 car over the last 10 years are really what held that company together. I think that company was held together by the success of the 4 car.”
SHR owns four charters. Currently, the rumor mill suggests three of the four are claimed by Front Row Motorsports, Trackhouse Racing and 23XI Racing.
