Watch the wild crash for Colton Herta during Indy 500 qualifying
Indy 500 qualifying is currently underway at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This is ahead of next weekend’s race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Colton Herta has become the latest driver with a big crash at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The backend stepped out and he backed it hard into the wall. He rolled backwards across the track at a high rate of speed. The air lifted the car completely off the ground.
Sparks flew as the car slid all the way from turn one tp turn two on it’s lid. He then slammed the turn two wall, halo first.

The driver climbed from the car with the help of the medical team. He stood up and walked to the medical truck.
Herta is currently being evaluated at the infield medical center.
Earlier today, Marcus Armstrong was placed on a stretcher following a crash in the practice session ahead of qualifying.

Update: Colton Herta comments
Herta has since exited the medical center. He has been cleared to race.
“I’m fine. Luckily, today these crashes look a lot scarier than they feel,” Herta told FOX Sports.
“Not to say that one felt good. The team’s going to be hard at work to try to get the backup car ready. It’s going to be probably impossible to get out today.”
“It’s a terrible day for this to happen. No real signs leading to it. We were super happy with the car this morning.”
Herta added, “Go out, just loose. Couldn’t even get lap 1 done.”
This is the latest in a string of crashes. Yesterday, Kyffin Simpson caught air in a similar crash and his car also rolled over.
