Race Report
Green flag, O’Ward get the jump and he leads Rosenqvist into turn one.
Lap 3, Santino Ferrucci spins on his own and backs it into the pit lane wall. The caution is out.
Green, O’Ward leads Rosenqvist and Will Power.
Lap 8, Louis Foster is around in turn one. The caution is out.
Green, O’Ward blocks a run from Rosenqvist into turn one and O’Ward holds the lead.
Lap 13, Conor Daly works outside of Christian Rasmussen. Rasmussen shoves him wide and off in the grass.

Lap 14, Rasmussen gets into the back of Daly. Daly spins and slams the tire barrier! The caution is out. Daly over the radio, “He just wrecked us. He committed a crime.”
O’Ward and many of the leaders head for the pit lane. Will Power stays out and takes over the race lead. O’Ward restarts 13th with fresher tires.
Green, Power leads Palou into turn one. McLaughlin gets into the back of Palou but Palou holds the position.
Lap 21, Pato O’Ward slows with a mechanical issue! No caution as he rolls right to the pit lane.
Pit cycle
Lap 35, Power pits from the race lead. The green flag pit cycle is underway.
Lap 41, Power cycles back to the race lead. Lundgaard trails by 2.5 seconds.
Lap 61, Power heads for the pit lane once more. He’ll put on the hard tire for the first time in this race. Palou is handed the lead for now. Power needs to hold off Lundgaard who is on a different strategy.
Lap 70, Power cycles back to the race lead. Lundgaard trails by 1.6 seconds.
Final pit stop
Lap 79, Lundgaard pits from 2nd for his final stop. He gets four brand new fresh soft tires.
Lap 80, Power pits from the race lead. He gets four soft tires but they’re a used set as that’s all he has left.
Lap 83, Lundgaard is all over the tail of Power as they exit the pit lane.
Lap 84, Josef Newgarden spins in turn two with help from Scott Dixon. Newgarden just left the pits with cold tires and took the line away from Dixon. He re-fires, no caution.
Penalty: Dixon will serve a pass-through penalty from the 6th position.
25 to go
25 to go, Power leads Lundgaard by 0.6 seconds.
14 to go, Palou drives deep under breaking and he clears Lundgaard for 2nd. Palou runs wide, Lundgaard crosses under him and reclaims 2nd.
13 to go, Power works heavy lap traffic. He leads Lundgaard and Palou by 0.9 seconds.
9 to go, the top three are nose to tail in search of the win.
5 to go, Power opens the gap. Palou is all over the wing of Lundgaard in the battle for 2nd.
4 to go, Palou looks to the outside of Lundgaard. Lundgaard runs him wide and shoves him off the track! Palou saves it and holds 3rd.
1 to go, Power leads by nearly 2 seconds.
Will Power wins at Portland International Raceway!
Alex Palou has locked up the 2025 Indycar Series championship with his 3rd place finish.
