On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series raced at Michigan International Speedway. Hurricane Hocevar was out in full force.

On lap 83, Hocevar was attempting an aggressive restart. However, cars checked up ahead of him just as he was pulling to the inside.

Hocevar clipped John Hunter Nemechek, sending him across the track. 10 plus cars were involved in the incident including Bubba Wallace.

Later in the race, Hocevar got loose under Wallace and nearly took them both out. By the end of it, Wallace had to deliver a message in person.

After the race, Wallace walked over to Hocevar to have a chat…

Bubba Wallace comments on Carson Hocevar

Bubba Wallace explained the conversation to Prime, “I said, ‘I’m jealous of how fast you are, kid.’ “

“No doubt. He’s one of the fastest in the field. That’s his natural ability. When you see that and you recognize that, I gotta give respect to it.”

“At the same time, Kevin Harvick told me, whenever I was hitting shit four or five years ago… He said, ‘Stop hitting shit and your finishes will show.’ That’s what I simply tried to tell him.”

“He’s fast. He’s going for every move, every second. It’s not worth it. He’s creating a lot of enemies.”

“This is the same old story. Same old Hocevar. But, I just told him, ‘You’re fast. A lot of us are jealous of what you have and what you’re able to do. But, we’re beating you because we can put a race together better than you.’ “

Carson Hocevar comments

“There were a few moves that didn’t work out. I was trying to get two when I should have just done one.”

“It’s hard to be on kill and go on instinct to get eight spots. Then, turn it off and get one at a time.”

“I felt like the race was won or lost with how good of a restart I had.”

Hocevar spoke on the big restart crash…

“It looked like they kinda accordioned a little bit. I really didn’t expect it. I turned left. I was probably going to go three wide but I’m shocked it spun him left.”

“My evasiveness probably wrecked him and everybody there. If I just kept the wheel straight, I think we’re fine.”
