NASCAR driver Corey Heim has won two of his eight starts so far this season while running part-time
Corey Heim has run just eight NASCAR Cup Series races this year. And, in two of those, he’s driven to victory lane.
Next year, Corey Heim will run full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for the first time. He’ll drive for 23XI Racing.
Corey Heim signs to run the NASCAR Cup Series full-time in 2027
However, the 24-year-old will not be eligible to run for Rookie of the Year in 2027. That’s per the NASCAR rulebook.
Mike Forde from NASCAR detailed the rules on the Hauler Talk podcast.
Per those rules, for the NASCAR Cup Series a driver cannot have more than 12 starts leading into the season that they want to declare as a Rookie. A limit of 10 applies to the NASCAR O’Reilly Series and only 8 for the Truck Series.
To date, Heim has run 15 NASCAR Cup Series races. He’s scheduled to run four more races before the end of the season.
In order to make a run for Rookie of the Year, the team must first apply. Heim would have been eligible to race for the Rookie of the Year awards this season, but the team did not apply for it.
