Garrett Alberson was transported to the hospital after an incident at Florence Speedway
On Saturday, Florence Speedway hosted the famed North/South 100. The race pays $75,000-to-win for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series winner.
The race was full of chaos. That included a huge crash early in the race but Alberson was able to continue the race after that pile up.

However, on a restart with 40 to go, Garrett Alberson came to an abrupt stop. There wasn’t any contact with another car. He just rolled to stop.
The 37-year-old racing driver struck by something. It caused a laceration above his eye.
The driver climbed from the car on his own. He then dropped to his knees and the red flag was immediately thrown.
The medical team was there in seconds. The race was sent into a lengthy delay.
Alberson was transported to a local hospital. Today, the team has issued an update.

On Sunday afternoon the team posted the following update:
“As most of you know, Garrett was transported to the hospital last night. He was discharged late this morning. He’s got a broken nose, a couple facial fractures and a laceration above his eye. The docs did a good taking care of him.”
“He’s home and recovering, but he’s sensitive to light and won’t be responding to texts anytime soon, although I’ve read them to him as they’ve come in. Thank you all for reaching out.”
“We’d like to send a special thank you to Rick Schwallie for waiting with us all night and Jeff & Paden for making sure we were taken care of. Carson and Makenna Ferguson took care of Weston and got the merch trailer moved and safe. Thank you so much to each of you, it means more than you know.”
They concluded, “We’ll be back soon.”
