After the 2026 NASCAR season, Denny Hamlin is expected to undergo another surgery
Denny Hamlin is currently the NASCAR Cup Series point leader heading into the first of ten races in The Chase. The 45-year-old is racing through injury and he’s collected four wins so far this season.
Back in November, 2023, Denny Hamlin had his first shoulder surgery.
In December 2025, Hamlin fell while cleaning debris from his parent’s house fire. In the fall he re-tore his shoulder.

Hamlin elected not to go into immediate surgery. The Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium was just a few months away to start the 2026 NASCAR season.
The driver is currently in his 22nd season of NASCAR Cup Series competition. He’s finished 2nd in the title chase, twice.
Denny Hamlin gives an update on his shoulder injury
“It’s bothered me a little bit more over the last month or so,” Denny Hamlin stated during a media appearance for The Chase.
“We’ll look at it in a month to see where it’s at. But, obviously, need to get it worked on and get it fixed, for sure.”
“Inside the car, it doesn’t really bother me. It’s more afterwards and for the next few days after that.”
“No date yet,” Hamlin said on if surgery is already scheduled.

The Chase begins this weekend at Darlington Raceway. Hamlin is five-time winner at the South Carolina track.
