Race Report
Green flag, McLaughlin gets the jump and he leads O’Ward as they exit the bridge.
Lap 14, David Malukas has a broken rear wing. He comes to a stop and the caution is out.
Green, McLaughlin leads O’Ward. O’Ward gets into the back of McLaughlin at the launch.
Herta hits the pit lane after getting pushed off line on the restart. “I’ve got damage. I got thrown into every f****** wall there.”
Lap 22, O’Ward is dropping through the field. His tires are burned off. O’Ward locks up under braking, Grosjean takes over 2nd.
Lap 24, O’Ward heads for the pit lane.
Lap 25, McLaughlin pits from the race lead. He can make it on one more stop from here.
Lap 30, Marcus Ericsson cycles to the race lead. He pitted early in this race with several others. McLaughlin runs 6th with fresher tires.
Lap 33, Ericsson and Rossi pit from the lead. Alex Palou is handed the lead, he pitted on lap 14.
Lap 44, Palou leads but Kyle Kirkwood has closed the gap to just 0.4 seconds. Lap 45, Palou heads for the pit lane. Kirkwood takes over the lead, he last pitted on lap 29.
Lap 49, Romain Grosjean suffers oversteer and runs wide. McLaughlin has a run under him and takes 2nd away.
Lap 51, Rinus VeeKay and Alexander Rossi make contact under braking . Kirkwood pits from the race lead.
Penalty: VeeKay will serve a pass-through penalty.
Lap 54, Kirkwood cycles back to the lead. McLaughlin trails by 1.3 seconds.

12 to go, Kirkwood leads McLaughlin by 2.8 seconds.
10 to go, Linus Lundqvist misses the apex, catches the marbles and slams the wall. The caution is out.
Jack Harvey runs off line under the caution and he also slams the wall. The caution was already out, that’s just how heavy the marbles are.
Green, Kirkwood leads McLaughlin and Palou. Felix Rosenqvist, Agustin Canapino, Benjamin Pedersen and Ryan Hunter-Reay catch the wall behind them and the caution is back out. All those cars were unable to turn on the outside lane due to marbles.
Green with 3 to go, Kirkwood leads McLaughlin. Newgarden gets into the back of Alex Palou.
Agustin Canapino is in the turn one tire barrier, no caution.
1 to go, Kirkwood leads McLaughlin by 5 car lengths.
