Two teams in the NASCAR Xfinity Series will have crew chief vacations
A pair of crew chiefs have been suspended, stemming from penalties incurred at this past weekend’s XFINITY Series race, the Zippo 200 at The Glen at Watkins Glen International.
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series had zero penalties.
Additionally, no lug nut penalties were issued this week. In it’s place, a pair of L1 infractions were discovered. L1 penalties are the steepest penalties handed out by NASCAR for rule infractions.
Dave Elenz crew chief of the JR Motorsports #9 car will be suspended for 1 race. Elenz was also fined $10,000 and the team assessed a loss of 10 driver and 10 owner points.
Reason: The No. 9 failed post-race rear body inspection heights making the 10th-place finish of driver William Byron encumbered as part of L1-level penalty.
