Bubba Wallace talks about future
It looked as if Darrell Wallace Jr had set plans for the 2018 season. However, as Smithfield suddenly pulled away from Richard Petty Motorsports, that changed the game plan.
Richard Petty Motorsports has yet to sign a primary sponsor for the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season. As a result, they are postponing the signing of a driver as well. That leaves the door open for the possibility that a drivers comes to the team, sponsorship in hand.
Bubba spoke on his 2018 plans, or lack there of below.

“Unfortunately, I got a house to pay for and a life to live,” Bubba Wallace told Bob Pockrass of ESPN.
“I can’t really afford a racer right now. But, we’re still working hard and trying to everything I can to make sure I have the best possible scenario for next year.”
“We got a couple. We’re working on some things. Drew, on Race Hub said the plan and the intention was to go to the #43. So, we’re still working on that.”
“But, obviously, with the sponsorship deal they got going on it puts things into a different light. So, we’re trying to work through a lot of things to figure out, what is next for me and my whole team.”
Darrell Wallace Jr drove 4 races for Richard Petty Motorsports earlier in 2017. He was filling in for the then injured, Aric Almirola. Wallace had finishes of 26th/Pocono, 19th/Michigan, 15th/Daytona and 11th/Kentucky.
On August 12th, Bubba Wallace drove a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series machine for MDM Motorsports. He put it in victory lane. That race win was later ruled encumbered.
