The tour is back at it again tonight. This time, we’re at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, PA. The half mile dirt track is hosting the national dirt late model touring series once again.

Hot Laps

Hot laps are rolling at 5:30, an early start on a rare Sunday night appearance. Jason Covert is fastest in hot laps. He ran an 18.898.
Colbey Frey and Austin Berry are both done for the night. They’re sidelined due to motor issues.
Qualifying

Dan Stone is quickest in group A qualifying. He was the last car across the line in group A. The crowd erupts as the #2 goes to the top of the board.
Austin Hubbard is quickest overall.
“I’ve been trying to win a Lucas race for a long time,” Austin Hubbard says after claiming the pole.
Heat 1 – Report
April 22, 2018
Dan Stone and Tim McCreadie trail the pace truck in the first heat race of the night. Tim McCreadie noses ahead into turn 1 on the outside. He wins the race off turn 2.
Stone and McCreadie head to the bottom in turn 3. Stone gets a better drive off the corner, he looks under McCreadie. They’re even at the line.
McCreadie is on the gas early on the outside as they head back into turn 1. Stone brakes early and slots in behind McCreadie on the bottom in turn 3. Hudson O’Neal wants no part of that, he’s still on the gas and heading for the cushion. O’Neal is around Stone and he clears McCreadie on the outside of turn 4.
Lap 8, caution.
Green, Hudson O’Neal leads McCreadie into turn 1. O’Neal blows a left rear tire before reaching turn 1! The caution is back out. Hudson heads to the hot pit and back out, he’ll start at the tail.
Green, Brenneman looks low on McCreadie. He pulls even but McCreadie wins the battle. McCreadie is the heat race number one winner
Heat 2 – Report

Josh Richards and Gregg Satterlee set row 1 in heat race number 2.
Green, Josh Richards wins the race on the bottom in turn 1. He jumps to the top.
Satterlee and Eckert battle for 2nd. Eckert gets around him. Richards leads by 10.
Lap 7, Eckert is running down the leader! Trouble for Satterlee, he has a flat!
Green, Richards hold him off to win heat race number two.
Heat 3 – Report

Austin Hubbard and Jimmy Owens lead them to the green in heat race number 3. Green, Davenport jumps right to the cushion coming to the green, he’s looking for extra traction on the launch. Owens and Hubbard are side by side into turn 1. Davenport is looking to make it 3 wide.
Owens holds him off.
Lap 5, Davenport throws a slider in turn 3. He makes the pass but Owens cuts back under him and back to the lead.
Caution for a car stopped in turn 4.
Green, Owens leads. Davenport’s right front fender has rolled under the car. Davenport is slipping through the field.

Heat 4 – Report

Scott Bloomquist and Kyle Bronson set set the front row in the final heat race of the night. A crowd comes down to the fencing area as the cars are stopped and staged at the flag stand to tell him he’s number 1.
Bloomquist leads into turn 1. As Bloomquist explores lanes, Bronson does as well. Bronson is in the wall off turn 4, he loses several positions.
Lap 3, spin in turn 1.
Green flag is out and Bloomquist is back on the gas. Pierce and Zeigler line up behind him around the top as the track begins to slick off. Lanigan is the lone car on the bottom. He can pull even but he loses all the drive off the corner.
Bloomquist wins the fourth and final heat by a few car lengths.
B Main – Report

Hudson O’Neal rebounds from the flat tire in his heat race. He wins b main number one, the second b main victory in a row.
Jonathan Davenport wins b main number two after suffering damage in the heat race that caused him to drop through the field.
Main Event – Report

Track prep is underway. They have watered the very top side of the race track ahead of the race.
The Rumble at the River main event is next! 4 wide salute and we’re off! Tim McCreadie and Jimmy Owens will lead the field to the green flag in the 50 lap feature event.
Green flag, McCreadie gets the jump. Too good, false start and they’ll reset. Green, Owens leads into turn 1, Bloomquist is around McCreadie.
Bloomquist has a run off turn 4. He crosses under Owens down the front stretch. Bloomquist throws a slider in turn 1. Bloomquist leads on lap 2.
Lap 10, Bloomquist is taking a really easy entry. He’s drifting up the banking to catch the cushion but the rear end never really steps out. He leads Owens by 10 car lengths.
Lap 15, Bloomquist is deep in lap traffic. I’m pretty sure Owens just lost a spring in turn 4. I saw the spring fly and the right rear is now over compressed off turn 2. McCreadie is running Owens down in a hurry.
Lap 17, caution is out for a spring in turn 1. Owens is in the pits. Josh Richards is now in third.
Green, Richards looks to the bottom. He slides McCreadie for 2nd in turn 1. McCreadie isn’t done, he slides him back the next lap. McCreadie is clicking around the top but Bloomquist is now 15 car lengths up the road.
Lap 29, the caution is out. The gap to the leader has been erased. Hubbard heads to the pit area.
Green, Richards is up to 2nd.
The laps are winding down and the cushion is just about gone. Several cars are banging their right rear against the wall in turn 2. Davenport is up to 7th.
Lap 38, the caution is out.
Green, McCreadie cuts it all the way to the inside wall in turn 1. But, he’s around Richards off turn 2. Don O’Neal got into the wall in turn 1 while running around 5th, he’s slow down the back. Caution.
Green, McCreadie holds 2nd off turn 2. But, Bloomquist is driving away. McCreadie jumps back to the top to explore and find speed. Richards looks inside.
The run side by side for several laps. With 3 to go, Richards sends it deep into turn 3 and completes the pass for 2nd. Bloomquist is gone.
Lap 48, caution for Dennis Erb Jr, he’s slow on the track.
Green, Bloomquist leads by 3-4 car lengths into turn 1. Pierce scrapes the wall and loses a few spots.
Light pressure on the leader, Richards drives it in on the bottom but Bloomquist opens a gap down the straights with momentum off the top. Earl Pearson Jr slips by McCreadie on the bottom.
Bloomquist wins at Port Royal Speedway!
The tour will resume next weekend at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL on April 27th. The following night, they’ll head to the mighty Macon Speedway.
