Noah Gragson was disqualified after Darlington Raceway; The team won the appeal; NASCAR adds new rule for Dover
Last week, Noah Gragson finished 4th at Darlington Raceway. The result gave him the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus.
After the race, the JR Motorsports No. 9 machine failed inspection. NASCAR issued a DQ and Gragson forfeited all points and earnings from the event.
The team was found in violation of rule 20.14.c.
Rule 20.14.c: “All suspension mounts and mounting hardware must not allow movement or realignment of any suspension and/or drivetrain component beyond normal rotation or suspension and/or drivetrain travel.”
On Monday, JR Motorsports appealed the penalty. Following a hearing from the appeals panel, the team overturned the disqualification.

New NASCAR rule
Heading into this weekend at Dover International Speedway, NASCAR has added a new rule.
New rule: “The left & right side rear coil springs must completely contact the upper & lower rear spring mounting plates at all times. The left & right side rear coil springs must be active in supporting the rear weight of the vehicle.”
The rule above appears to be in reaction to JR Motorsports winning Wednesday’s appeal.
