Kings Royal results from the the second $175,000 to win dirt race of the day at Eldora Speedway

This year’s Kings Royal was run earlier this afternoon. Now, they’ve racked the field once again to run the makeup race from last year’s postponed King’s Royal. Yet another $175,000 check will be handed to tonight’s race winner.

It;s the largest Kings Royal crowd in the history of the event. This is the final Eldora race for Jac Haudenschild, in his final season. And after winning his heat, he’ll be starting on the front row.

Main Event – Report

Green flag, Courtney slides Haudenschild into turn one. Sweet slides Haudenschild for 2nd in turn three. Haudenschild crosses under him to retake the spot.

Lap 2, McFadden bounces off the wall and tags Sweet off turn two. Sweet spins, does a full 360 and keeps going. The caution is out.

Green, Courtney leads as McFadden drives by Haudenschild for 2nd.

Lap 4, Courtney is glued to the cushion. McFadden is working the bottom.

Lap 5, most of the field has moved to the cushion. Sheldon Haudenschild squeeze between Schatz and the outside wall to take 3rd.

Lap 12, McFadden slides Courtney to take the race lead.

Lap 15, McFadden works lap traffic and he’s forced to move off the top. Courtney catches the cushion behind him and has a run. Courtney slides McFadden back in turn one to retake the lead.

Lap 17, Courtney struggles with lap traffic. McFadden slides Courtney for the lead. Kyle Larson closes on both of them.

Lap 19, Courtney looks inside of McFadden as Larson slides them both. Larson to the lead!

Halfway

Lap 22, Logan Schuchart slows and the caution is out.

Green, Larson leads. McFadden tags the wall behind him as Macedo takes 2nd.

Lap 27, Sheldon Haudenschild slides Macedo for 2nd. Macedo tries to cross under him but can’t hold the spot.

10 to go, Larson leads by 1.6 seconds but he’s caught the tail of the field.

8 to go, Larson struggles with lap traffic. Haudenschild closes to within 10 car lengths and splits lap cars in his pursuit.

6 to go, Larson knocks the cushion and brushes the wall in the process but holds the lead.

3 to go, Larson opens the gap.
