Jimmie Johnson will run the full Indycar schedule
In 2020, Jimmie Johnson ran his final full-time NASCAR Cup Series season. He ended his career tied with Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty at 7 championships.
But, Johnson wasn’t done racing. He trimmed up his pants, removing the boot cut and went Indycar racing.
In 2021, Johnson ran exclusively on the Indycar road courses. That included 12 of the 16 races.
Months ago, Johnson conduced an Indycar oval test session on familiar territory via Texas Motor Speedway. He was then cleared by Indycar to race in the famed Indy 500.
At the same time, Johnson hinted that he had recieved many offers to return to NASCAR. And, he still wasn’t sure if he wanted to race a hyper speed INDYCAR on ovals.
However, the now 46 year old is back for round two. This time, he’s going the extra mile as Johnson will run the full-time Indycar schedule in 2022.
Johnson tweeted Wednesday morning, “I’m going #FullTime next year! I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Carvana machine for the full INDYCAR season, including the #Indy500. #NoFinishLines”
