It’s the 14th career NASCAR Cup Series pole for Dale Earnhardt Jr. In order to realistically make the 2017 MENCS Playoffs, Dale Jr needs a win. This is a good start to his weekend at Daytona.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is the recipiant of the Coors Light Pole Award. He comments, “I have to give HMS a lot of credit.”

He explained, “Particularly, for me personally it seams like it’s been the #24 bunch. We’ve kinda been pushing each other over the last several years in qualifying at Daytona and Talladega. It’s been a healthy competition. I think that’s why we win poles and qualifying so well at some of these races. A healthy competition within the company.”

How’s the car? Dale Jr, “The car, I don’t do anything in qualifying but just hold the wheel and make sure it don’t hit the apron. Otherwise, the car does every thing. A lot of credit to the power, the body man back at the shop. All that stuff’s so critical.”
