600 miles of racing is on deck for the premier series of stock car racing. The Coke 600 is a crown jewel NASCAR racing event hosted on the 1.5-mile oval in Concord, North Carolina.
Matt Tifft failed pre-qualifying inspection twice. His engineer has been ejected from the speedway.
The sun is setting at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The later a driver rolls in this session will likely be a slight advantage as the speeds come up on the cooler racing surface.

Qualifying – Report
The bottom 20 qualifiers from Kansas will set group A qualifying. The positions are then drawn at random to set the group order. That will be followed by Group B which will feature the top 20 qualifiers from Kansas.
Kyle Larson is bottoming on the race track during his run. He’s 4th of the 8 cars so far. Not good for last week’s All-Star race winner.
Group A is complete. Aric Almirola is the fast so far. Half the field still remains.

William Byron jumps to the top of the board late in group B. He was the stage 1 winner of the Monster Energy Open last week.
William Byron takes the pole position for the NASCAR race on Sunday afternoon. He’s the youngest driver to win the pole for the Coca-Cola 600.
