Possible the Colorado based NASCAR Cup Series team returns to 1 car in 2018
Furniture Row Racing owner Barney Visser speaks on the #77 machine.
The team is arguably the fastest NASCAR team in the grid right now. Two wins in the last five races, Two more 3rd place finishes and one DNF. They wrecked from the lead at Indianapolis.
Who will drive the #77 in 2018? Well, it’s possible that car isn’t on the grid at all due to lack of sponsorship.
Visser spoke on the topic via Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, “We’ve got no sponsorship right now for the 77.”
He continued, “So we’ve got to find something. We don’t want to give up that car, but if we don’t get sponsorship, we’ll have to. We’re doing everything we can to get that to come together.”
Erik Jones is the current driver of the #77 car. However, he’s essentially there on a loan from Joe Gibbs Racing. In 2018, JGR have selected Jones to move over to the #20 car, replacing Matt Kenseth.

Visser had additional comments on the health of the sport, “I’d certainly like to see it better. I’m sure if you can run up front you can deliver to the sponsors what you’re promising them. I don’t even know how to answer that question. It’s a pretty tough business right now.”
Erik Jones, driver of the #77 has collected 7 top ten’s in his 22 starts. He has 1 top 5. His best finish of 3rd, came at Pocono Raceway.
