Stage 1

Green flag, Martin Truex Jr to the lead. The field falls in line around the bottom.

Lap 15, Kyle Busch is falling through the field. He started 2nd, he runs 6th. He keeps pulling to the middle, letting cars go by. Tire saving?

New leader, Kyle Larson. He got a run on Martin Truex Jr off turn 4. He pulled to the inside in turn 1, Truex let him go by. “The back is rotating for me,” Kyle Busch radio. Loose, he continues to fall through the field. Busch runs 9th.

Lap 60, Martin Truex Jr has been running down Kyle Larson. The track is changing. Martin true Jr to the bottom, new leader. Kevin Harvick started 9th, he up to 3rd. He just moved passed Dale Earnhardt Jr, the #88 has been one the fastest cars every lap.

Lap 82, Kevin Harvick now runs 2nd, he’s chasing down Martin Truex Jr. At the same time, green flag pit stops have begun. Lap 84, Martin true Jr hits pit road. Kevin Harvick follows.

Caution! Red flag. Jeffrey Earnhardt lost it heading to pit road. On the brakes, the back end came around on the apron. He backed it into the sand buckets at the start of pit road. Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Danica Patrick were the only cars that didn’t pit. Only 5 cars are on the lead lap.

Lap 93, green flag. Brad Keselowski gets the jump on his rival, Kyle Busch. He takes the lead on the outside into turn 1. Kyle Larson is 3 wide, on the outside at the back.

Stage 2

The field hits pit road. Brad Keselowski lost two spots. Martin Treux entered 3rd, he was inches from beating Kyle Busch at the pit exit line. True has the first pit stall. Ricky Stenhouse Jr lost 9 spots. “Do not pick that pit stall ever again. It’s on a curb and hard to get to,” Ricky Stenhouse Jr radio.

Green flag, Kyle Busch to the lead on the outside. Kyle Larson swings by Martin true Jr on the outside as well, he’s up to 2nd. He sets sights on Kyle Busch, new leader, Kyle Larson.

Lap 160, Kyle Busch is falling through the field again. He’s back to 5th and dropping like a rock.

Lap 168, caution. Reed Sorenson has exploded down the back. Expired motor. The field hits pit lane. Treux Jr entered in 2nd, he left with the lead.

Green flag, Kyle Larson takes the lead on the bottom.

22 to go in stage 2, Kevin Harvick to pit road. Possible loose wheel.

Stage 3

The field hits pit road, 4 tires all around. Kyle Larson first in, first out. Chase Elliott exits 2nd, Truex 3rd. Trouble! Kyle Larson was cycling the engine, it shut off completely. He struggled to get it re-fired. Larson would have started from 1st, he falls to 5th as he failed to maintain caution speed. Chase Elliott and Martin true Jr on row 1.

Green flag on the final stage, Chase Elliott gets it done on the outside. Jimmie Johnson is up to 3rd.

Lap 300, Kyle Busch is on the move. He’s run the top groove, a car length from the wall in the center of the corner, with a diamond on exit. He just worked passed Jimmie Johnson, Truex is next.

Lap 318, Kasey Kahne starts the pit cycle. Lap 321, Kyle Larson hits pit road. Lap 325, Truex is in. Lap 326, leader Chase Elliott hits pit road. The lead is handed to Kyle Busch. Ricky Stenhouse Jr is staying on track, praying for a caution.

Lap 330, Kyle Busch is in. Kurt Busch ran over the pit entrance box, penalty. Lap 334, Jimmie Johnson pits for the lead. Lap 341, Brad Keseowski pits from the lead, the cycle is complete. Chase Elliott resumes as the leader.

50 to go, Chase Elliott leads Kyle Busch by 4.5 seconds. Focus is on Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Ryan Newman. Stenhouse is ahead of the playoff cut line by 3 points, he runs 19th. Ryan Newman runs 14th.

Lap 373, Denny Hamlin is slow. He’s riding around on the apron. Mechanical issues send him to the garage.

20 to go, Chase Elliott still leads. His family, including father, Bill Elliott are not at the race track this weekend. They are on vacation. However, Jeff Gordon is sitting in the #24 pit box. To date, nobody has won in the #24 except Jeff Gordon. Kyle Busch is running down Chase Elliott he’s behind by 1.6 seconds.

10 to go, the gap to the leader is just .6 seconds. Kyle Busch is scraping the wall trying to get to him. At the same time, Ryan Newman is fighting to stay on the lead lap.

5 to go, Ryan Newman, Chase Elliott and Kyle Busch run nose to tail. Ryan Newman isn’t going to budge. Kyle Busch gets a run off turn 2, he’s there! Busch had a fender on him at the exit, Elliott couldn’t clear him to the wall. Busch to the lead with 1 lap to go!

Drivers eliminated from 2017 NASCAR playoffs: Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon, Kasey Kahne and Kurt Busch

“That was everything I had,” Kyle Busch states from the front stretch.

“I gave it away,” Chase Elliott nearly claimed his first win.

“We weren’t good enough. Simple as that,” Ryan Newman misses the next round of the playoffs.
