Bob Miller Memorial race results from September 1st, 2018 featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

Tonight, Portsmouth Raceway Park hosts another round of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The track is a 0.375-mile dirt track located in Portsmouth, Ohio. The dirt late model feature winner will pocket $12,000 following the 50 lap main event.

Qualifying – Report

It rained heavy at the track for an hour or two earlier this afternoon. Following hot laps, the track is bumpy. Track officials have brought out the tiller ahead of qualifying.

The track record has been broken in the first group of three. Bloomquist takes it in the second group of three. It’s the first laps ever in the 13 second bracket in a dirt late model at PRP.

13.878 for Bloomquist. He’s quickest in group A. Kyle Bronson turned a 14.442 in group B.

Heat 1 – Report

Scott Bloomquist and Gregg Satterlee set the front row for the first heat race of the night. Green flag, Satterlee launches as Bloomquist never went. False start.

Green, they’re even into turn 1. Bloomquist drives it deep for the slider. He slides up the hill and takes the spot off turn two.

Lap 3, the caution is out.

Green, Owens to 2nd. Satterlee is fading fast. He might have a problem. Satterlee stomps the brakes and pulls off the track.

At the front, Bloomquist leads Owens by 5 car lengths. Owens is hanging with him but he’s not catching him either.

Bloomquist wins the first heat race of the night!

Heat 2 – Report

Ricky Thornton Jr and Josh Richards trail the pace truck ahead of heat race number two. Green flag, Davenport makes it three wide on the bottom into turn 1.

Richards leads off turn two. Thornton holds off Davenport but he’s still there.

Davenport to 2nd. Richards is a full straight away ahead.

Josh Richards wins heat race number three!

Heat 3 – Report

Kyle Bronson and Earl Pearson Jr lead them to the starting lime in heat three. Green flag, Carrier Jr comes from row two to make it three wide on the bottom.

Pearson is on the gas hard around the top. He’s loses momentum on the high side of turn two.

Bronson takes the lead. Pearson and Carrier Hr fight for 2nd.

Bronson drives off to win heat three over Earl Pearson Jr.

Heat 4 – Report

Brandon Sheppard and RJ Conley trail the pace truck ahead of the final heat race of the night. Green flag, Sheppard leads into turn 1, false start.

Green, Sheppard gets the jump. RJ Conley hits the cushion and the car barrel rolls through turn 1. The car comes back down hard on the nose while he’s upside down. Shanon Buckingham spins it backwards to try and avoid Conley. Buckingham’s rear bumper runs directly into the bars the protect the front end of the drivers cockpit.

The red flag is out. Conley has climbed from the car.

Green, Sheppard leads into turn 1. Buckingham slots in behind him but Casebolt is all over him for 2nd. Buckingham has heavy rear spoiler damage. Casebolt takes the position.

Lap 5, Sheppard leads Casebolt by 10 car lengths.

Sheppard drives away to win the final heat race of the night!

Main Event – Report

Scott Bloomquist and Kyle Bronson set the front row for the main event. It’s a 50 lap show paying $12,000 to the race winner.

Green flag, Bloomquist gets the jump. He clears Bronson on the bottom into turn 1.

Bronson is on the gas hard around the top. He pulls even with Bloomquist in the middle of 1-2. Bronson is even off turn 2. Bronson leads into turn 3.

Lap 5, the leaders have all moved to the cushion. It’s bad fast tonight. Bronson leads by 5 car lengths.

Lap 10, Bronson is working lap traffic. Bloomquist has closed the gap to just a car length.

Lap 12, trouble just ahead of the leaders in turn 2. Several cars at the tail of the field have spun including Buckingham and Thornsberry.

Don O’Neal is hard on the brakes as the track is blocked. The leader gets into the back of O’Neal! Bronson keeps it rolling.

Boggs moves from the bottom lane to the top at the last second to avoid the pile up ahead. He comes across the nose if Bloomquist. The zero jumps on the brakes and spins it around. Bloomquist will restart at the tail of the field.

Ferguson has stalled on the track. He gets a push to the pit area.

Green, Bronson leads into turn 1. He heads for the cushion. Bronson smacks a rut in the middle of the corner. That jolts the car to the right and he jumps the cushion. Sheppard and Richards both drive by on the inside.

Lap 14, Lanigan is slow on the front. The caution is back out.

Green, Sheppard leads into turn one. Richards and Davenport trail.

Lap 22, Owens is slow on the front. The caution is back out. Owens just cracked the top five when it happened.

Green, Sheppard leads. Davenport looks to the outside of Richards into turn 1. Richards hold him off.

Pearson Jr and Bronson fight for space off turn four.

Lap 30, Pearson is around in turn 2. He seems to think Bronson was at fault as he chases him down under caution and pulls alongside. Pearson heads to the pit area.

Green, Sheppard leads Richards. Davenport knocks the cushion and several cars are looking to get by. Davenport holds him off.

Lap 33, Bronson is slow down the back. The caution is back out. Pearson and Bronson head to the pit area.

Green, Sheppard leads. Satterlee is looking for 3rd from Davenport. Satterlee started at the tail of the field!

Tomorrow night, the tour heads to Tyler County Speedway for  crown jewel dirt late model event. The Middlebourne, West Virginia race tracks hosts the Hillbilly Hundred. The race will pay $50,000 to the win.
