Portsmouth Raceway Park: Results – June 30, 2018 – Lucas Oil Late Models

Kyle Bronson caught the tail of the train on his final lap. He was allowed to make up the lap in a single lap run of his own.

Hudson O’Neal is stopped on his first lap. Big mechanical issues for the most recent Lucas Dirt winner. He’s getting a push back to the pit area due to a broken driveshaft. No time was turned for the #71.

14.556 for Bloomquist. That’s the overall quick time.

Heat 1 – Report

Jason Jameson and Earl Pearson Jr will lead them to the start in the first of four heat races. Green, Jameson and Pearson play throttle games at the line.

Pearson leads into turn 1. Jameson throws a slider. Takes the lead in the middle of the corner and holds in on the exit of turn 2.

Owens and more stack up in turn 4, caution.

Green, Jameson leads. Pearson is right on his tail as the leaders run identical lines.

Lap 5, two cars tangle in turn 2. The caution is back out.

Green, Jameson opens a gap. Pearson is under fire from Lanigan for 2nd. They run nose to tail on the bottom through turns 1-2.

Lap 8, slow car in turn 4. The caution is back out.

Green, Jameson is the only car running the top. Everyone else heads nose to tail around the bottom. Pearson hangs with him for the first lap.

Jameson wins the first heat race of the night!

Heat 2 – Report

Devin Gilpin and Josh Richards set row one in heat number two. Green, Gilpin leads on the bottom into turn 1.

Richards took an easy entry but he’s back in the gas hard. Richards catches the cushion in the middle of 1-2. Richards drives to the right rear of Gilpin. Richards leads off turn 2.

Richards drives away to win heat race number two!

Heat 3 – Report

Scott Bloomquist and Dennis Erb Jr trail the pace truck in heat race number three. Green, Bloomquist gets the jump. False start.

Green, Bloomquist and Erb are side by side at the line. Another false start. They have sent Bloomquist back a row.

Green, Rod Conley leads off turn 2. Bloomquist trails Erb in the race for 2nd.

Lap 2, trouble back in turn 1. Erb is around in front of the field. Don O’Neal is collected. Davenport drives all the way to the wall to avoid it but he still caught a piece of it. The point leader and many others head for the pit lane.

Green, Bloomquist slides Chilton for 2nd in  turn 1. Davenport restarted at the back, he’s using the high side.

Rod Conley hangs on to win heat race number three!

Heat 4 – Report

Jackie Boggs and Eddie Carrier Jr lead them to the line in the final heat race of the night. Green, Carrier gets the jump, false start and a complete restart.

Green, Carrier leads into turn 1. He leads Boggs by a car length on lap 3.

Lap 5, Hawkins is looking low off turn 4 on Satterlee for 3rd. Satterlee chops him into turn 1, Hawkins bobbles but collects it.

Eddie Carrier Jr wins the final heat race of the night at Portsmouth Raceway Park!

B Main 1 – Report

Jimmy Owens leads into turn 1. He goes on to lead every lap and take the win.

B Main 2 – Report

Kyle Bronson leads into turn 1. The field runs single file.

Halfway, there’s a caution. Green, Davenport kicks it to the high side, he’s up to 2nd.

Davenport isn’t done. He jumps back to the high side in turn 1. He pulls to the right rear of Bronson off turn 2. They run even for the lead down the back. Davenport takes the lead into turn 3.

Davenport drives off into the distance. He wins B Main number two by two full seconds.

Main Event – Report

The 50 lap main event is next. The race winner will pocket $12,000.

Jason Jameson and Rod Conley set row one as the field trails the pace truck. Josh Bocook is the track provisional starter.

Green flag, Jameson leads into turn 1. The leaders run nose to tail around the bottom. Conley is putting pressure on the leader, he fades.

Lap 3, Bloomquist enters high in turn 1. Conley runs the middle. Bloomquist cuts off the top and drives under Conley on the exit to take over 2nd.

Lap 12, the caution is out. Lanigan is slow down the back.

Green, Jameson runs wide at the entry to turn 1. Conley looks low for the lead. Bloomquist has a peek at the middle, he backs off. Richards is right there, 4 car battle for the top spot off turn 2.

Turn 3, Bloomquist to the middle. 3 wide for the lead at Portsmouth. Jameson runs wide, Bloomquist takes the lead off turn 4. They run side by side through turn 1. Bloomquist holds the lead off turn 2.

Lap 20, Conley to 2nd. He fades, Jameson and Richards get by.

Lap 25, Bloomquist is deep in lap traffic. Jameson is closing quickly with Richards right on his tail.

Lap 32, Jameson has a run on Bloomquist into turn 1. They fight for the bottom. Bloomquist shuts the door and they bang fenders. Bloomquist holds the lead.

Jameson to the high side in turn 3. He closes again. Jameson gets to the right rear of Bloomquist and he leaves the lane open at the top. Jameson takes the lead on the outside in turn 1. Dennis Erb Jr has shredded a tire. The caution is out.

Green, Jameson hits the cushion in turn 1. Bloomquist to the bottom. Richards through the middle! Richards slides Jameson!

Richards leads off turn 2 but at the sacrifice of all his corner exit speed. Jameson cuts off the cushion and looks to cut under Richards. Bloomquist runs the bottom, 3 wide again for the lead.

Jameson looks low into turn 3. He drives it deep! Richards does the same in an attempt to defend. Jameson takes the lead back in turn 3.

Lap 40, Davenport has the flat right rear. The caution is out.

Green, Jameson leads onto turn 1.

Lap 45, Jameson is leaning into the cushion hard in turn 1. He tags the wall lightly off turn 2. Still going.

2 to go, Richards is closing. Jameson throws dust clouds once more in turn 1. Jameson holds him off! Jason Jameson wins at Portsmouth Raceway Park!

He does doughnuts on the front straight to celebrate. Jameson pulls into victory lane with steam pouring from under the hood!

Tomorrow, the national dirt late model tour heads to Mansfield Motor Speedway. Monday, the tour lands at Sharon Speedway. The Ohio swing comes to a close on Tuesday via Muskingum County Speedway.
