The NASCAR driver has issued early-morning threats across twitter

NASCAR Cup Series driver Erik Jones has created a bit of a trademark. The driver has a history of making news at 3:00am then going back to bed.

Most recently in September Jones tweeted to Ty Gibbs at 3:00am, “Don’t ever bump me under yellow again.”

What spawns those moments? Why aren’t the tweets going out during normal hours? Erik Jones had answers…

“Well, you know, sometimes you’re up,” Erik Jones stated. “You’re just up. You’re never up at 3am?”

Someone in the crowd noted that they might be up at 3am to go to the bathroom.

“Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. So, sometimes you’re just looking and you’re like, ‘You know what? I’ve just been holding this in so I’m going to put it out.”

“Then, you go back to sleep. See what happens in the morning.”

Jones will continue to drive for Petty-GMS Racing in 2023. Jimmie Johnson recently purchased a share of the team becoming a co-owner.
