Medals will be awarded in The Clash at the LAS Coliseum

The 2023 season begins with an exhibition race in Los Angeles, California. The Clash at the Coliseum is run on a temporary 1/4-mile bullring oval.

Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has a long history. The venue has hosted the Olympics twice, once in 1932 and again in 1984.

Last year, stock cars invaded the track for the first time. The race took NASCAR back to it’s 1/4-mile roots after decades away from a track of that size.

New for 2023, the top three finishers will each receive a medal. The winner will take gold, silver for 2nd and bronze for the third place finisher.

The medal ceremony will take place in victory lane under the Olympic cauldron. Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s senior vice president for racing development and strategy will present the medals.

“These will be tremendous prizes for our drivers who are competing inside a venue that’s hosted two Olympic Games and is preparing for a third,” Kennedy said. “Not only do the medals honor the rich tradition of this stadium, but they also provide a special element unique to NASCAR’s 75th anniversary.”

The medals are produced by Jostens. The winning medal weighs 4.7 ounces and is covered in 24-karat plated gold.

27 cars will take the green flag in the 150-lap Clash. Up to 40 drivers will attempt to qualify for the race.

Busch Light Clash tickets are on sale one. Adult tickets start at $65 will kid tickets cost just $10.
