Just ahead of qualifying, Michael McDowell topped a 15-minute practice with a time of 1:29.127. Brodie Kostecki suffered a mechanical failure in the throttle pedal and missed important practice time in his debut.
The field is split into two groups for the opening round of qualifying. The top 5 from each group advance into the final round.
