It’s an early Sunday morning qualifying session in Indianapolis, Indiana. The NASCAR Cup Series will set the starting lineup via two rounds of qualifying on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course.

Kyle Larson returned to his motorhome at 3am this morning. After a short nap, he’s up and ready for Indianapolis qualifying, just a few hours after winning the Knoxville Nationals in Iowa.

NASCAR Qualifying
Round 1 – Report
Duration: 25 min
The green is out on round one. The top 12 drivers will advance out of this round and make a run for the pole in round two.
20 minutes remain in round 1, Tyler Reddick sits at the top of the board with a 88.248.
18 minutes remain, Kyle Larson jumps to the top of the board.
17 minutes remain, William Byron wheel hops into turn 12. He’s forced to abort the lap and use the runoff room to save the car. Byron was one of the quickest cars in practice yesterday but he’s just wasted a lap on his tires.
14 minutes remain, Christiopher Bell gets loose early on his first lap. He’ll have to make another lap.

9 minutes remain, Byron is back on the track. He jumps all the way to 4th on his second attempt.
5 minutes remain, Cindric is out for anther run and he jumps to 12th. That bumps Denny Hamlin out of the top 12.
2 minutes remain, Hamlin, Bell, Suarez and DiBenedetto are back on track for a second run. Suarez to 12th, bumping Cindric.
Kyle Larson is quickest at the conclusion of Round 1.

Round 2 – Report
Duration: 10 min
Chase Elliott is the first car on track. However, he goes out for 1 lap and comes right back to the pit lane without completing the lap. Elliott missed a corner and he’s back on the pit lane to cool the car down.
Byron is the first car to set a time. He turns a 87.765, nearly a half second quicker than his time from round 1.
5 minutes remain, Briscoe and Larson both set a lap, they’ve lost time from their round 1 run. Byron leads of the 5 car to set a time so far.
1 minute remains, Chase Elliott is back on track for another run. He jumps to 3rd.
William Byron will start from the pole positions at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!
