Bubba Wallace penalized by NASCAR at Kansas Speedway

This weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series is racing in Kansas City, KS. The 1.5-mile of Kansas Speedway hosts the second race of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

On Friday, teams rolled through inspection. Every team must pass inspection before they’re allowed to qualify today.

The No. 23 car driven by Bubba Wallace failed inspection twice. They were able to pass inspection on their third attempt through the line.

NASCAR has issued a penalty for failing inspection twice.

Car chief Zachary Marquardt has been ejected for the duration of the weekend. Additionally, the No. 23 has lost pit selection for this weekend.

Wallace is a playoff driver. He currently sits 13th of the 16 playoff drivers, just one point below the round of 12 cutline.

They’ll take the green flag at Kansas Speedway on Sunday.

1 Failure
No Penalty

2 Failures
Crew member of NASCAR’s choosing ejected (crew member cannot be replaced). Additionally, the team loses pit selection.

3 Failures
Not permitted to qualify plus above penalty. They also have to serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the race.
