This weekend, the 59-year-old driver is set for his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series start of the 2023 season. It comes in the season finale for the series.

New for this season, the DTWC moves to Eldora Speedway. The famed half-mile dirt track will host two days of racing.

$1.3 million of event purse is on the line with $100,000 going to the winner. In addition, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point fund will also be distributed with $200,000 going to the series champion.

This marks the first season for the NASCAR style playoffs with the LOLMDS. Only four drivers are in the battle for the championship heading into the final event.

Ricky Thornton, Jr., Hudson O’Neal, Jonathan Davenport, and Devin Moran are the four drivers. Each of them head into the final race tied in the standings. The highest finishing driver in the race at Eldora will become the 2023 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion.

While this is the first year the DTWC is hosted at Eldora, Bloomquist is a three-time DTWC winner. He claimed the wins in 2005, 2014 and again in 2015.

As for races at Eldora, he’s a four-time World 100 winner claiming the globes in 1988, 1990, 2001 and 2014. Adding to the tallies, he’s also won the Dirt Late Model Dream eight times in 1995, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2013, 2017 and 2018.

Bloomquist missed the Dirt Late Model Dream and the World 100 this season. However, by running the race this weekend he’ll continue his streak of 36 consecutive years of competition at the Rossburg, Ohio track.
