Toyota Racing Development teases silly season news

TRD hints that they’ll be bringing a driver back who was once in their driver pipeline

Toyota Racing Development drops hint that a driver could be returning to Toyota for 2024.

Is it Noah Gragson?

Between 2016-2018, Noah Gragson ran in the Toyota driver development pipeline. He spent time driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the NASCAR Truck Series and made a handful of NASCAR Xfinity Series starts with Joe Gibbs Racing.

In 2019, Gragson was signed to drive full-time for Chevrolet via JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He claimed several wins and for 2023, he took on a full-time ride with Legacy Motor Club in the NASCAR Cup Series, another Chevrolet team.

However, in the middle of his rookie season, Gragson was suspended by NASCAR. The driver liked an incentive meme which brought the penalty.

Since, Gragson has cleared sensitivity training. His NASCAR suspension has been lifted.

Could Gragson be returning to a Toyota team? David Wilson recently spoke on 2024 and hinted that a driver could be returning to Toyota but he did not mention any names.

David Wilson comments

“He had an opportunity to do something that we couldn’t match” David Wilson of TRD told Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.

“All we can do and all we have done is wish him well.”

“I also say that in the next breath, for many of these young kids, they’re going to be driving for years and years to come. The experience they’ve had with TRD, stays with them.”

“That friendship stays whether they’re driving for Ford or Chevrolet. There’s always the possibility they could boomerang back.”

“Pay attention to some news coming in the next few weeks. I’ll leave it at that.”

William Byron, Brandon Jones, Chandler Smith, Sammy Smith, Daniel Suarez and Austin Hill are also drivers that were once in the Toyota driver lineup.
