Daytona Duel Results: February 13, 2025 (NASCAR Cup Series)

NASCAR race results from the Duels at Daytona International Speedway

The front row for the Daytona 500 has been locked in via qualifying. Now, two races will set the rest of the starting grid and send up to five open cars home early.

Daytona 500 TV Schedule

The highest single open car (non-charter team) from each Duel will transfer into the Daytona 500. For the other open cars, they’ll miss the big show. Helio Castroneves is an exception as if he fails to transfer, he’ll be gifted a provisional with a controversial new rule.

Duel 1
Race Report

Ross Chastain and Chase Elliott are suffering mechanical issues ahead of the green flag. Elliott has been repaired and he’ll save his starting position. Chastain exits the pit lane as the field is set for the start, he’ll be a half-lap behind.

Chase Briscoe and Ryan Preece set the front for for the first of two Duel races. They roll to the starting line for 60-laps of stock car racing…

Green flag, side-by-side into turn one.

Lap 3, Zane Smith suffers a flat tire and he tags the outside wall. The caution is out!

The field heads to the pit lane for fuel, tires and/or adjustments. Josh Berry and Chase Briscoe take over the front row.

Green, Austin Dillon shoves Josh Berry to the lead.

Lap 10, Chase Elliott pulls off the bumper of Berry. He catches the front of the inside lane and McDowell shoves Elliott to the lead.

Lap 14, Chandler Smith cuts across the nose of Justin Haley. Smith is hard into the outside wall while running 3rd! Ty Gibbs and Helio Castroneves are collected.

Elliott leads most of the field to the pit lane.

Green, Chastain shoves Josh Berry to the lead.

Lap 22, Elliott leads the train on the inside lane. Dillon shoves Elliott to the lead.

Lap 25, caution for debris.

Green, Byron shoves Ross Chastain to the lead.

Lap 31

Lap 31, Chastain pulls to the inside lane. Bubba Wallace shoves Byron to the lead on the outside. Wallace has a run off turn four, he looks to the outside of Byron. Wallace to the lead with teammate Tyler Reddick on his bumper.

Lap 39, Ryan Preece is shoved to the lead.

Lap 42, Wallace retakes the lead. Teammate Tyler Reddick remains on his bumper.

Caution for debris.

Green, Wallace and Byron run side by side for the lead. Wallace wins the battle via the outside lane.

10 to go, Ty Dillon pulls even with Wallace at the front of the field.

6 to go, Dillon is shoves to the lead. But, Byron checks up behind him, Dillon has no help. Wallace pulls back even on the outside.

4 to go, Dillon is clear in the lead once more.

3 to go, Wallace to the lead. Dillon pulls even yet again.

2 to go, Reddick gives a huge push to Wallace. Wallace to the lead.

1 to go, Wallace leads as they form three wide for 2nd! Wallace blocks a run from Ty Dillon. Dillon is hooked from behind and he finds the wall, no caution.

Bubba Wallace wins Duel 1 at Daytona International Speedway! Justin Allgaier is the open car that will transfer into the Daytona 500!

Duel 2
Race Report

Christopher Bell will drop to the rear for unapproved adjustments.

60 more laps are up next as Duel 2 is set to get underway. Austin Cindric and Joey Logano line up behind the pace car.

Green flag, Cindric gets the jump and he pulls down to lead the inside lane with teammate Logano on his bumper.

Lap 3, as they move back to the top. Denny Hamlin works to the inside. Cindric and Hamlin run side by side at the front. Hamlin is clear for now.

Lap 16, Erik Jones has built speed in the third lane. Johnson shoves him to the lead.

Lap 31, Daniel Suarez pulls even with Erik Jones, side by side for the lead. Suarez clears him for the lead.

Lap 35

Lap 35, Jimmie Johnson is forced to the pit lane as the driver says, “I’m out of fuel.” He pits by himself. Cars should have at least 5 more laps of fuel at this point.

Lap 44, Suarez leads all Chevy and Toyota teams dive for the pit lane under green. Hamlin slides through his box, it’s a slow stop for him.

Lap 45, Ryan Blaney leads half the Ford drivers to the pit lane. The next lap, the other Ford drivers pit.

Penalties: Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin and John Hunter Nemechek will serve a drive-through penalty after speeding on the pit lane.

Lap 48, Chris Buescher throws a huge block on Austin Cindric! Buescher holds the lead but the field stacks up behind them. Brad Keselowski, Daniel Suarez and Alex Bowman spin and pick up damage as the caution is out.

Green with 7 to go, Buescher and Cindric run side by side into turn one! Logano shoves Cindric to the lead.

3 to go, Buescher pulls back even with Cindric at the front of the field. Cindric leads the inside as Buescher leads the outside.

2 to go, Logano shoves Cindric clear of Buescher.

1 to go, Buescher is shoves out of line. Cindric leads Logano.

Erik Jones pulls out of line. Buescher shoves Jones even with Cindric. They run side by side off turn four. They’re crashing behind them and the caution is out!

After a review by officials, Austin Cindric wins by inches! Corey LaJoie is the open car to race his way in. Multiple cars crash across the finish line.
