“That was probably top of the board on hits I’ve taken. And unfortunately, I’ve taken a lot of hits.”

NASCAR is on track at Michigan International Speedway. A big crash brought out the red flag for cleanup.

In stage two, they ran four wide and fought for space. Eventually, the space ran out.

Austin Cindric clipped the left rear of Cole Custer. As Custer wiggled up the track, he collected Alex Bowman and Daniel Suarez.

Bowman was sent nose first into the outside wall. The impact was enough to lift the rear of the car completely off the ground.

The No. 48 drivers stated over the team radio, “That was really (expletive) big.”

Bowman put the window net down as he sat in the middle of the track. The safety team was quickly deployed as was the red flag.

The 32-year-old was recently involved in another heavy crash at Texas Motor Speedway.

The race at Michigan International Speedway is still ongoing. The driver was sent to the infield medical center. He was checked and released…

Update: The race has since been completed.

Alex Bowman comments after the crash

“Yeah, that hurt, a lot,” Bowman told Prime after exiting the infield care center.

“That was probably top of the board on hits I’ve taken. And unfortunately, I’ve taken a lot of hits.”

“Looks like the No. 41 got loose or the No. 2 got into him or something. At that point, I was along for the ride.”

“I couldn’t really do anything but, ‘Oh (explitive), this is about to hurt really bad.’ Hate that for our team.”

Bowman added, “It’s been a rough two months.”

Bowman was involved in a heavy sprint car crash in 2023 that resulted in a fracture. NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick has since requested that Bowman not run any sprint car races.
