Last week in Chicago, Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman rubbed fenders for nearly an entire lap. It ended in a crash with Bubba Wallace turning himself into the outside wall.

After the race, the two drivers had a brief conversation on the pit lane.
The two NASCAR Cup Series drivers have a history. Wallace previously tossed a liquid on Bowman after a race several years ago. Wallace also hit Bowman after the finish of a separate race.
“I thought we had squashed our beef but clearly we have not,” Alex Bowman told Jeff Gluck after the race.
This week, NASCAR is racing at Sonoma Raceway. Both drivers happened to be staying at the same hotel. On Thursday, they had dinner together. Today, they were seen giving a thumbs up at the track.

Alex Bowman says the two drivers have cleared the air
“He bought me dinner on Thursday, which was super nice of him, “Bowman said.
“So, I’m appreciative of that. I think we probably raced a little bit unnecessarily hard in that situation, but we talked, and I think we’re all good.
“The TV feed made it look worse than it really was off of (Turn) 2 there. I certainly didn’t intentionally crash him, and unfortunately, the coverage was pretty rough. We talked about it, and I think we’re good going forward.”
The two drivers happened to be staying at the same hotel.
“That’s always how it works, right?” said Bowman. “Whenever you run into somebody, you’re always magnetic for the next couple of weeks.”

Bubba Wallace comments ahead of Sonoma Raceway
Wallace had a similar message:
“My dinner was paid for, so I just pay it forward,” Wallace said.
Wallace added, “I felt like I made us look like fools last week, and I took the responsibility, so the least I could do was buy him dinner. Bowman and I, I can say truthfully, we’re fine moving forward.”
This week, NASCAR is racing at Sonoma Raceway. Ahead of practice and qualifying, Wallace put his arm around Bowman and both drivers put their thumbs up.
