Dirt late model driver has been suspended after the crash with Garrett Alberson
Over the weekend, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series raced at Batesville Motor Speedway for the Topless 100. On Friday night, Garrett Alberson pulled a slider on Cade Dillard in the Group B feature.
Alberson cleared him but Dillard had momentum off the corner. It appeared that Dillard attempted to cross under Alberson but instead drove into his left rear fender.
In the process, Dillard climbed over the left rear wheel of Alberson. Alberson was turned into the outside wall. Both cars were collected and nearly flipped.
After the incident, Dillard had a lot to say, noting previous run-ins with Alberson. He stated, “If he touches me again, I’ll total him out, again.”

The series announced the penalty on Tuesday:
“In an interview with FloRacing, Dillard admitted to intentionally causing the chaos and expressed his intentions to do it again if the opportunity arose,” the LOLMDS opened.
Penalty: “After review, Dillard’s on-track and off-track actions were deemed aggressive, violating the conduct policy in section 1.4 of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing rulebook. As a result, Dillard has been suspended for six months from any Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing competition.”
Dillard has run 5 features with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2025. Alberson races full-time and currently sits 6th in series standings.
