Conner Morrell transported after dirt sprint car crash

On Friday night, the World of Outlaws visited Vado Speedway Park. The track is a 3/8-mile in Vado, New Mexico.

Conner Morrell and Alex Pettas both went upside down on the opening lap. They were separate accidents that occurred at the same time.

Morrell went over the cushion and slapped the wall. His car was sent tumbling across the track.

Pettas also flipped behind Morell. However, he climbed from his car and walked away on his own.

The race was red flagged and all drivers climbed from their cars. There was a lengthy delay due to track cleanup and work with the safety team.

Officials also waited for an ambulance.

This is only the second time the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has visited Vado Speedway Park. Friday night is a preliminary event ahead of Saturday’s Desert Showdown finale.

World of Outlaws statement

“Morrell was alert and communicating as he was extricated from the car,” the series stated.

They confirmed, “He’s being transported for further evaluation.”
