Denny Hamlin calls out NASCAR for missing the Cody Ware crash

“This was not acceptable.”

On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series raced at Watkins Glen International. With 3 laps to go, Cody Ware spun nose first into the barrier.

The car slammed the wall, bounced off and spun back across the track. The car was parked in the middle of the track for several seconds.

No caution was thrown as Ware was able to limp his mangled machine to the pit road. However, the impact was massive and a caution should have been thrown regardless.

As for the fans at home, they never saw the crash at all. It was not a part of the TV broadcast, even the post-race show. Clips of the crash only surfaced online after the race.

Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 says it was unacceptable…

Denny Hamlin comments on NASCAR missing the Cody Ware wreck

“They didn’t follow a few wrecks, for sure,” Denny Hamlin said of the FOX broadcast team via his Actions Detrimental podcast.

“But NASCAR has to get better with that. Like, I’ve seen their control center at their production studio.”

“There’s absolutely no excuse to not, you know, you have cameras pointing in every direction of this race track. For you not to see Cody Ware destroyed in that final corner. Holy cow man.”

“They need to say something about that. Not just, ‘We’ll look at it. We’re always looking to improve.’ That’s old news.”

“Take some accountability on this one. This was not acceptable. At all.”
