NASCAR driver Justin Allgaier planned to quit after the 2026 season; JR Motorsports attempts to talk him out of it
Justin Allgaier has spent the last 17 years racing in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series. 520 races later, he’s collected 32 race wins and he won the championship in 2024.
The 39-year-old sits 6th on the all-time wins list for the series. With four wins this year alone, he just passed Jack Ingram.
The driver went to victory lane as recently as last night at Nashville Superspeedway.
Allgaier currently leads the 2026 standings, by a lot. But, the driver has plans to retire at the end of this season.
The driver of the No. 7 is currently one race win away from tying his all-time season high of five wins. JR Motorsports isn’t having it and they’re attempting to keep Allgaier around for 2027…
Justin Allgaier says he was planning to quit
“I was quitting at the end of the year if I’m being perfectly honest with you I was retiring,” Justin Allgaier told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
“We’re working on making that not happen. JRM’s been on me. After I won my third race of the year, I walked in on a Monday morning and LW and Joe pulled me into Joe’s office and they’re like, ‘Why are you quitting? Why are you doing this?’ “
“So, we’ll see. I don’t know. I can’t promise you anything.”
“My wife’s been on me to not quit. She doesn’t want to see me quit.”
Allgaier has also run 87 NASCAR Cup Series races. He’s collected two top-10 finishes.
